Odysseus' hero's path

From books one and two Odysseus doesn't follow the hero's path. Odysseus is just gone and dissapeared form the face of the earth and no one knows what happened to him. First of all Odysseus has no speical birth, no call to advanture, and no belly of the whale. In the book Odysseus desides to go to war and then doesn't return. In other words he had no guide no call to advanture and no belly of the whale because he could have just not gone to war and the story would have never happened.

Telemachus' hero's path

I beleive that Telemachus is a hero who follows the hero's path. In the book Telemachus is guided by one of the gods to go and find his father by sailing out to two different countries. This shows resemblems to the hero's path because it is a mithical guide who perswades him to go out and try to find his father. Another thing that happened was once Telemachus steped onto the ship the winds took it to the distant lands he was going to. This ties in because is like the belly of the whale as in there is no turning back just like Telemachus can't get off the boat so he has to go now.
